Alverna J. (Kisner) Kisslinger, 82, Hays, died Friday, May 15, 2015 at Hays Medical Center.
She was born December 13, 1932 in Cordia, Kansas the daughter of Alvis and Mary (Unrein) Jacobs. She married Tony Kisner on May 25, 1954 in LaCrosse, Kansas. He died on April 7, 1987. Tony and Alverna owned Kisner’s Overhead Door Co. for 28 years. She volunteered her time at ARC Thrift Shop and IHM Funeral Dinner Committee for many years.
On October 25, 2003 she married Ambrose Kisslinger in Ransom, Kansas.
She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle #254, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Sunflower Polka Club and Ladies Red Hat Society. She enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music.
She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, and St. Aloysius Church, Ransom, Kansas. She was very much loved by her family and welcomed everyone she met with her infectious smile. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her husband of the home, three sons; Deacon David Kisner and wife Susan of Hays, Roger Kisner of Victoria, Rex Kisner and wife Lena of Hutchinson, one daughter; MaryJane Spresser of Hays, nine grandchildren; Jason Kisner, Brandon Kisner, Laura Kisner, John Kisner, Tyler Spresser, Shayla Spresser, Hailey Kisner, Megan Kisner, and Blake Kisner, one step-granddaughter; Amanda Schuckman, three great-grandchildren and two step great granddaughters, two brothers; Cecil Jacobs of Fort Collins, CO and Alvis Jacobs of Clovis, NM, one sister; Edna Billinger of Hays, one half-brother; Richard Wolf of Russell, KS and one brother in law; Lee Leiker of Hays.
She was preceded in death by her husband Tony, her parents, two sisters; Delorse Leiker, and Bernida Kisner and a daughter in law, Debra Kisner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesay, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., all on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, the Senior Center in Ransom, or masses in care of the funeral home.
