Donald K. Huff, 71, Hays, died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Locust Grove Village in LaCrosse.

He was born August 13, 1944 in Concordia, Kansas the son of Archie and Alice M. (Stockham) Huff.  He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1963 and from Goodland Technical College.  He was a Ford mechanic before entering the United States Marine Corps in 1966.  He spent a little over 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring in 1986 as a Gunnery Sergeant.  He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War.  In 1966 he married Loy D. Gray in Grinnell, Kansas.  She died November 16, 2008.  On April 30, 2009 he married WillaSue Rupe in Hays.  He was a member of the North Oak Community Church, Hays, the Marine Corps League, the Hays American Legion Post #173, the Vietnam Veterans Association, The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #939, and was a big supporter of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.  He loved doing puzzles, fishing, Duke basketball, NASCAR, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife WillaSue, of the home, two daughters Tracey Staab and husband Allen and Jennifer Mascarenas and husband Lloyd, all of Hays, a step daughter Jana Hanson and husband Hank of Wisconsin, a step son Jeremy Rupe and wife Janita of Pratt, two brothers Verle Huff and wife Rose of Scott City, Kansas and Richard Huff and wife Charlene of Laguna Hills, CA, five grandchildren Christin Cantrell of Hays, Jessica Cowley and husband Brent and Nathan Huff, all of San Angelo, TX, James Williams of Concordia and Hank Williams of WaKeeney, nine step grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the North Oak Community Church, 3000 Oak Street.  Burial with military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Detail, the Marine Corps League, the American Legion Post #173, and the Hays American Legion Riders will be in the Ft. Hays Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until service time on Friday at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #939 Scholarship Fund or to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots, in care of the funeral home.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.haysmemorial.com
