Robert W. “Bob” Barker

Robert W. "Bob" Barker, 62, died Friday, May 25, 2012 at his home in Hays.

He was born May 4, 1950 in Nashville, TN the son of Myron Woodard and Dorothy Louise (McKnight) Barker.  He married Mary Elaine Taylor on August 25, 1972 in Nashville.  They were later divorced.  He received his BS degree from the University of Tennessee.  He retired as a manager for Bell South and later became an advocate for the disabled.   He was involved in the Hays Lions Club, LINK, WKACD, and the Amputee Coalition.

Survivors include a son, Robert Andrew Barker and wife Betty Ann and their children Bailey, Calista, and Riley of Chatanooga, TN, daughters Shellie D. St. Jean and husband Chris and their children Hannah, James, Thomas, Rachel, and Sarah of Siler City, North Carolina, and Christie A. Barry and husband Chris of Wake Forest, North Carolina, brothers, Woody Barker and wife Nancy of Arkansas, and James Barker and wife Pat of Tennessee.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine Street. Friends may call from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Memorials are suggested in Bob's memory to WKACD or to LINK, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.haysmemorial.com

My thoughts and prayers to Bob's family...I always enjoyed talking to him and he was a wonderful person to interview for our Street Beat news stories about the various activities and causes he helped lead.

iam sorry to hear about bob. i enjoyed doing things with him.he was very thoughtful,and a good friend. i will miss you bob.
