MARCELINE HEWETT

Marceline Hewett, 85, Hays, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the St. John’s of Hays.

She was born June 27, 1926 in Alma, Nebraska the daughter of Edgar and Alice (Clement) Harrington.  On March 9, 1947 she married Robert Hewett in Almena, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on April 12, 1986.  She was a depot agent for Burlington Northern Railroad and a homemaker.  She was a resident at Centennial Towers for several years before moving into the nursing home.  

Survivors include a son, Edward Hewett and his wife Cathy of  Thornton, CO, daughters Evelyn Zellmer of Hays and Sandra Wolfram and her husband Larry of Liberal, KS, a brother Richard Harrington and his wife Judith of El Cajon, CA, sister-in-law Betty Harrington of Kearney, NE, nine grandchildren, Matt Zellmer of Rapid City, SD, Keri Roche and her husband Jeff of Yukon, OK, Andrew Zellmer of Hays, KS, Katheryn Uhner and her husband Victor of Chanute, KS, Laura Staab and her husband Jason of Hays, KS,  Kyle Wolfram and his wife Leah of Kingswood, TX, Alissa Downs and her husband Jimmy of Fairbanks, AK, and Sarah Hewett and Ashley Hewett of Thornton, CO, fourteen great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Eugene Hewett, a son-in-law David Zellmer, brothers Robert and Charles Harrington, and a sister in law Polly Harrington.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine Street.  Burial will be at 1:00 pm in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Almena, Kansas.  Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 on Friday and from 9:00 am until service time Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of the High Plains, the Almena Cemetery Association or to donors choice.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.haysmemorial.com

Just a note to let all of the Hewett "kids" know that we are thinking of them at this time....I have fond memories of the family growing up in Almena and going to school with all of them. Sincere thoughts to all of you.
