Regina Leiker, age 93, longtime Hays resident, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at her son’s home in Munjor, Kansas.
Regina was born March 8, 1919, in Liebenthal, Kansas, to John H. and Margaret (Kuhn) Kreutzer. She married Henry S. Leiker May 3, 1938, in Munjor, Kansas. He died February 4, 2002. She was a farmer’s wife and a homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Perpetual Adorers of Hays and the Christian Mothers of St. Francis Church of Munjor.
Survivors include her sons, John H. Leiker and his wife, JoAnn of Arvada, Colo., Alan H. Leiker and his wife, Janet of Hays and Mark H. Leiker and his wife, Dora of Munjor, Kansas; daughters, DeAnn Schmidt and her husband, Adolph of Hays, Ella Mueggenberg and her husband, Louis of Carroll, Iowa, and Jane Leiker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel H. Leiker, by her brothers, Paul, Richard, Leo, Cyrene, Brother Francis, Otto, and Martin Kreutzer; sisters, Monica Wolf, Sister Margaret Kreutzer, and infant sister, Cecilia Kreutzer.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1800 Milner in Hays. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays. There will be a Perpetual Adorers rosary at 4:00 p.m., a combined Daughters of Isabella rosary and Christian Mothers rosary at 6:00 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Memorials have been established in her name and memory with the Building Fund at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, St. Thomas More Society at TMP-Marian, or Hospice of Hays Medical Center.
