Terry Wayne Ault, 70, of Hays, Kansas passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, September 8, 2019 at his home.  Terry was born July 22, 1949 in Hays, Kansas.  He was one of three children born to William C. and Evelyn G. Ault.  He grew up and attended schools in Hays, KS, graduating from Hays High School and then graduating from Kansas State University in Manhattan.

He returned to Hays upon graduation, where he begin his career and started his own family, with wife Jane, a son, a daughter, a dog, and a ranch-style house; what Terry hoped for in his life.

Terry enjoyed a long career in architecture, beginning with Woods and Starr Associates, then moving on to Stecklein and Brungardt, Architects, and eventually opened his own business, Architectural Solutions in 2007.  He was very conscious of doing his best for his community and found it difficult to retire earlier this year after working on many wonderful projects throughout his career.

He was looking forward to working in his wood shop, gardening, and spending more time with family and friends, including his spiritual brothers and sisters of the congregation.  Even in his last stages of hospice care, he said “I always want to have a positive attitude” no matter the situation.  And to that end, he was always ready with a hug and a “very glad to see you” smile.

Terry is survived by his wife, Jane (Bennett); sister Connie (Ault) and brother-in-law Robert Schlauder, sister-in-law Karen (Ault) Harvester; son Erin Ault, daughter Daesha (Ault) and son-in-law Larry Robben; grandchildren Keegan Olson, Sam Olson, Haley Robben, Graydon Olson, Lily Meska, Korbyn Olson, Casey Robben, and Ian Olson; and special “adopted” daughter and son Wendy and husband Rueben Wilson; cousins; nieces and nephews; and close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Sofia and George Bennett, and brother Loren Ault.

Terry’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hays, located at 1112 Canterbury Drive at 5:00 PM, Saturday, September 14, 2019.  All friends of the family are welcome to attend.  In lieu of flowers, the family would just love to see you or hear from you in your own time.  Services entrusted to Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  Condolences and memories of Terry may be left for the family at www.haysmemorial.com
