Winston Lee Campbell

Winston Lee Campbell, 85, Hays, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at HaysMed.

He was born August 22, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of Ralph W. and Harriet A. (Woodworth) Campbell.  On May 23, 1969 he was united in marriage to Juanita Apodaca in Carson City, Nevada.  He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  He was a motel manager, a city commissioner, and was on the board of directors for the Special Olympics while living for many years in Alturas, California.  He enjoyed playing fantasy football, was a huge Denver Broncos and Kansas City Royals fan, and he loved to play golf, often playing twice a day.  He loved his dog, Jolene, and his granddaughters.

Survivors include his wife, of the home, a son; Christopher Casey Campbell of Los Angeles, CA, three daughters; Jenny Lee Linenberger and husband Stan of Hays, Deborah Marie Coney and friend John Dooley of Colorado Springs, CO, and Diana Arline Campbell of San Jose, CA,  a brother; Ronnie Campbell and wife Pat of Cherokee Village, AR, and a sister; Arline Brown and husband Bill of Cherokee Village, AR, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons; Joseph Winston Campbell and Bryon Scott Campbell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine Street.  Cremation will follow the services and inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday and from 10:00 am until 10:45 on Friday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St.  A parish vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Winston’s family, in care of the funeral home.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.haysmemorial.com.
