Allena R. Reese

Allena R. Reese, 71, Hays, died Friday, November 13, 2020 at Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita.

She was born January 21, 1949 in Hays, the daughter of Allen and Alice (Goodwin) Broadbooks.  She attended Abilene High School and Hays High School, graduating in 1967.  On May 31, 1969 she married Frank Reese, and they were married for ten years before they divorced.  Allena attended North Oak Community Church.  She enjoyed bowling, collecting bells and items displaying humming birds, Elvis Presley music, and going to Frank Werth and the Vibrations concerts.  Allena also enjoyed making cookies to share with others and baking and decorating cakes.  Most of all, she loved her grandchildren.

Allena operated a daycare out of her home for 25 years, was an AVON sales representative, worked part time at High Plains Mental Health, and was a Customer Service Manager at Walmart before her retirement.

Survivors include two sons: Scott Reese and wife Tawni of Hays, KS and Lance Reese and wife Marta of Ellis, KS, a brother: Steve Broadbooks and wife Helen of Cole, OK, two sisters: Judy Davis of Norton, KS and Malia Westbrook and husband Harold of Alexander, KS, a brother-in-law: Norman Kline of Norton, KS, and five grandchildren: Rycor Reese of Hays, KS, Brayden Reese and significant other Ashley Anglemyer of Ellis, KS,  Peyton Reese of Pittsburg, KS, Jagr Reese of Ellis, KS, and Maddux Reese of Ellis, KS, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: June Kline and Marci Broadbooks, three nieces, two nephews, and one great nephew.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 in Mt. Allen Cemetery, with Pastor Dave Buller officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Tuesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to Hays Area Children’s Center.  Condolences and memories of Allena may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
