Ann Ruder Obituary

Ann Rose Ruder

Ann Rose Ruder, 71, transitioned to her heavenly body on Saturday, March 5, 2022, in Hays, Kansas.

Ann was born September 24, 1950, in Hays, Kansas to Marcellus and Marcella Ruder.  She is the third of four children and the oldest daughter in the family.  Ann lived and made many memories in Omaha, Nebraska; Kansas City, Kansas; and Hays, Kansas.  The only thing more important to Ann than the Kansas City Chiefs and Christmas was her family.  Her journey through life came full circle when it brought her back to Hays, as she cared for her parents that she so greatly loved.  Ann finally settled in at Hays and made it her home.  Ann loved and held close many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and even a great-great nephew, which she loved as if they were her own.  She loved to laugh and tell stories with her family.  Her laughter can still be heard by all who knew her.  She had grit, pluck, and an indomitable spirit, but mostly, she will always be remembered for her loyalty and love.  She was loved by many and her family and friends will miss her and her spirited personality.

Survivors include her sister: Ellen Pool and husband David of Amarillo, TX, two brothers: Larry Ruder and wife Virginia of Overland Park and Terry Ruder of Daniel Island, SC, seven nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and great nephews, and one great-great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Marcellus and Marcella Ruder and a sister-in-law: Bonnie Ruder.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, May 20, 2022, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, with Fr. Damian Richards officiating.  Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at the church.  Recitation of the rosary will be at 10:30 am.  Memorials are suggested to St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  Condolences and memories of Ann may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
