Brenda Burgardt

Brenda Burgardt, 60, Hays, died Friday, October 18, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She was born September 10, 1964 in Hays, the daughter of Fredoline P. “Fritz” and Rosaline “Rosie” (Hoff) Burgardt.  In 1983, Brenda graduated from High School and she worked at Hadley Hospital, Sykes, Hays International and Wal-Mart.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Brenda was an avid reader and crocheter and used her craft skills to help others. She would crochet lap blankets and totes for the local nursing homes. She enjoyed country music, baking and online shopping.

Survivors include her brothers, Alfred Burgardt and wife Kathy of Hays and Larry Burgardt of Moore, OK, her sister, Mary Leer and husband Mike of Manhattan, two nephews, one niece and several great nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Zoni Burgardt.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church with Fr. Damian Richards officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time and recitation of the rosary will be at 9:30 am, all at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of the High Plains.  Services are in the care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and condolences and memories of Brenda may be left for her family at www.haysmemorial.com
