Cheryl K. Wagner, 73, Ellis, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at HaysMed.

She was born April 2, 1947 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of James M. and Catherine R. (Christopher) Bailey.

Cheryl graduated from Ellis High School in 1965, attended Kansas State University, and was a teletype operator for TWA in St. Louis. She was an excellent cook, loved being in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and loved animals, especially her two cats and her dog.

Survivors include two daughters; Christy Owings-Pettit of Longmont, CO and Katie Wagner of Hays, two sisters; Karen Hendrickson and husband David of Hays and Cathy Bailey of Dallas, TX, six grandchildren; Taylor Owings of Boston, MA, Kiley Pettit, Austin Pettit, and Brandon Pettit, all of Longmont, CO, and Peyton Moore and Hunter Moore, both of WaKeeney, a great-granddaughter; Dahlia Hunter of Longmont, CO, and a niece and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister; Joyce Linna.

Private family inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of the High Plains, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Condolences and memories of Cheryl may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
