David Lee “Dave” Pfannenstiel

David Lee “Dave” Pfannenstiel, 64, Hays, died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at his home.

He was born February 15, 1955 in Hays, the son of Henry J. “Hank” and Mary E. (Rohleder) Pfannenstiel.  He was a graduate on Hays High School in the class of 1973 and attended Fort Hays State University.  On June 25, 1977 he was united in marriage to Janelle Gerstner in Hays, and they celebrated nearly 42 years of marriage.  He worked in the oilfield with his father at Hank’s Tanks Sales and Service and later became the owner and operator of the business.  Dave was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  He loved spending time with his family and always put them first.  Dave enjoyed home remodeling, landscaping, yardwork, and was a fan of KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.  He enjoyed attending class reunions and he loved decorating for Halloween.

He is survived by his wife; Janelle of the home, his parents, Hank and Mary Pfannenstiel of Hays, three daughters; Cassie Pfannenstiel Rodriquez and husband Chris of Lenexa, Kristy Pfannenstiel of Lenexa, and Emilee Pfannenstiel of Hays, two sisters; Trish Pfannenstiel of Topeka and Norma Henderson and husband Tom of Hays, and four grandchildren; Trevor Wood, Elizabeth Thomas, Eva Pfannenstiel Rodriquez, and Lucia Pfannenstiel Rodriquez.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Barry Brinkman officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Wednesday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Thursday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:00 pm followed by a parish vigil service at 6:30 pm, all on Wednesday at the funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to the Western Plains Animal Refuge or the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.  Condolences and memories of Dave may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
