Doris A. “Mitzi” Krause

Doris A. “Mitzi” Krause, 81, Hays, died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at HaysMed.

She was born May 10, 1940 in Sweet Springs, Missouri, the daughter of William and Ella (Hartman) Steinkuehler.  She was a graduate of Sweet Springs High School in the class of 1958.  On February 6, 1960, Mitzi was united in marriage to Earl Krause in Emma, Missouri, and they celebrated 61 years of marriage.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and actively involved with funeral dinners, altar care, donation drives, and was in charge of the women’s group.  She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, the Hays Medical Center Auxiliary and Hays Medical Center Blood Screenings.  Mitzi enjoyed her cats, laughing, sharing her sense of humor with others, and making chili for friends, family, and organizations.

Survivors include her husband Earl of Hays, son: Brett Krause and wife Robin of Parkville, MO, two sisters: Carol Barclay of Overland Park and Betty Forbes of Concordia, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Carla Krause, sister: Violet Highbarger, and nephew: Brent Barclay.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Brenda Rodger officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time at the church.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Concordia Bethel Evangelical Cemetery, Concordia, MO.  Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County or to Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  Condolences and memories of Mitzi may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
