Faye Weilert
Faye Weilert, 75, formerly of Hays, died Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence.
She was born July 28, 1949 in Hays, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Armbruster) Hafenstine. On September 6, 1969 she was united in marriage to Michael D. Weilert. Together they had three sons, Curtis, Chad, and Gene. Faye earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Fort Hays State University in 1972. She taught elementary school in Antonino, was active in the family business, and later in life, worked as a dietary aide at a nursing home where she enjoyed helping others. She volunteered for the Senior Companion Program in Hays and enjoyed quilting, caring for her dogs, and gatherings with her family. While living in Hays, she was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Survivors include her three sons, Curtis Weilert and wife Shelley, Chad Weilert, and Gene Weilert and wife Trina, eight grandchildren, three-step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, her sister Carol Hobbs, her brother Doug Hafenstine and wife Christy, her sister-in-law Betty Hafenstine, and her stepmother Jean Hafenstine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Rex Hafenstine, and her great grandson Kayden Michael Weilert.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Fr. Fred Gatschet officiating. Inurnment will follow in WaKeeney City Cemetery in WaKeeney, and a dinner will be at 1:00 pm at the VFW in Hays. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
