Frances Rohleder Obituary

Frances “Francie” Rohleder

Frances “Francie” Rohleder, 91, Hays, died Thursday, June 4, 2020 at HaysMed surrounded by her family.

She was born May 3, 1929 in Hays, the daughter of Mike and Bridget (Wasinger) Herman.  She graduated from Girls Catholic High School in 1947.  On October 4, 1948 she was united in marriage to Francis R. “Frank” Rohleder, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 28, 2015.  She was a custodian at the Eddy Clinic, the office manager and sales representative at Rohleder Electric, a homemaker, a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and devoted to the Blessed Mother and praying the rosary.   Francie was always involved in her children’s activities as their 4-H leader, the lunchroom lady at their school, and sewed many of their clothes, dresses, and costumes.  She was an amazing cook, made delicious homemade jellies, and canned fruits and vegetables.  She enjoyed being outdoors, flower gardening, camping, traveling, vacationing with friends, and spending time at the lake, but most of all, she loved her family.

Survivors include her son; Pete Rohleder and wife Terri of Hays, six daughters; Mary Kay Dechant and husband Steven of Hutchinson, Chris McNiece and husband Jim of Wichita, Conni Dreher and husband Marion of Hays, Joan Gray of Wichita, Gloria Rader and husband Bob of Hays, and Dianna Mans and husband Joe of Topeka, 14 grandchildren; Jason Dechant, Aaron Dechant, Sarah Osburn, Josh McNiece, Jamie Gibson, Scott Reeves, Austin Gray, Jordan Gray, Scott Rader, Brian Rader, Nathan Rohleder, Nicole Windholz, Kelli Mans, and Katie Mans, 10 great grandchildren; Sophie Dechant, Ella Dechant, Luke Osburn, Tyler Osburn, Caleb Osburn, Gavin Rader, Oliver Rader, Karsyn Rader, Miles Rohleder, and Brooklynn Windholz, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Frank, a son; Eugene “Gene” Rohleder, and her sister; Sister Lucille Herman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. Nick Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 on Sunday, and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Monday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:00 pm on Sunday, at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Chapel at Via Christi or to the Sisters of St. Joseph, in care of the funeral home.  Condolences and memories of Francie may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
