Isabel J. Pfannenstiel
Isabel J. Pfannenstiel, 91, Hays, died on Friday, January 3, 2020 at her home in Hays, Kansas.
She was born on April 14, 1928 in Wilmont, Minnesota one of nine children to Oscar A. and Julia M. (Weis) Kuhl. She was a 1946 graduate of Worthington High School and attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Edwin A. Pfannenstiel on July 17, 1950 in Wilmont, Minnesota. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devoted member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, was active in Legion of Mary, Perpetual Adoration Society, To Jesus Through Mary Prayer Group, Mary Elizabeth Maternity Home and was a strong advocate for the Right to Life organization.
Survivors include two sons; Dave Pfannenstiel of Hays and Paul Pfannenstiel and wife Tally of Kansas City, MO, two daughters; Loraine Pfannenstiel and Mary Poulson and husband Tom, all of Lakewood, CO, a daughter-in-law; Gayle Pfannenstiel of WaKeeney, KS, a sister; Sr. Dolores Marie Kuhl, SSpS of Chicago, IL, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; a son, Mark; and seven brothers, Lester, Vernon, Oscar, Leo, Elmer, Bernard, and Brother Richard Kuhl, MSC.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, with Fr. Nick Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 am on Wednesday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A Perpetual Adorers Rosary will be at 6:30 pm, followed by a vigil service and rosary at 7:00 pm, all on Tuesday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for masses, to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, or to Divine Mercy Radio, in care of the funeral home.
