Jeanette Kitchen

Jeanette Kitchen, 84, Hays, died Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She was born February 13, 1936 in Ellis the daughter of George and Virginia (Schmidt) Wiesner.  In 1954 she graduated from Ellis High School.  On December 29, 1956 she was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Kitchen.  They later divorced.  Jeanette worked at JC Penney, K-Mart, and Wal-Mart.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was an amazing seamstress, and loved to dance.  She enjoyed bowling, puzzles, and tending her flower and vegetable gardens.

Survivors include three sons; Mark Kitchen and wife Millie of Aurora, CO, Marshall Kitchen and wife Brenda of Hays, and Brent Kitchen and wife Shelly of Olathe, two daughters; Kim Betts and husband Mike of Hays and Mindi Pfannenstiel and husband Marty of Mulvane, her ex-husband Don of Hays, a brother; Donald Wiesner and wife Myrlin of Garden Grove, CA, 17 grandchildren; Dustin Kitchen and wife Robin, Brenden and Taylor Kitchen, Blake Kitchen and wife Tanya, Brian Kitchen and wife Allison, Kayla Landers and husband Jake, Dylan, Bailey, and Gage Kitchen, Sheldon, Clay, Taylor, and Jordan Betts, and Austin, Chayton, Easton, and Maci Pfannenstiel, and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Norman Wiesner and wife Freida and Verlyn Wiesner and wife Karen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Fr. Matthew Cowan officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Monday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Tuesday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A vigil service will be at 7:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Catholic Charities or to the St. Joseph Food Pantry.  Condolences and memories of Jeanette may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
