Lin H. Gordon

Lin H. Gordon, 76, Hays, died Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at his home.

He was born June 28, 1947 in Ellsworth, the son of Marion and Dorothy (Whitmer) Gordon.  In 1965, he graduated from Hays High School and was actively involved with class reunions.  He married Joyce Lehman, and they later divorced.  On May 1, 1982 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Legleiter in Hays, and they were married 22 years before she preceded him in death on November 26, 2004.  He worked in construction, was a truck driver, treated oil wells for Champion Oil Company, and was a fuel man for Co-Op.  He was active in AARP, enjoyed carpentry, home remodeling, and learning history, especially through his opportunity to take a cruise to ancient civilizations and his membership in The Westerners.  Lin loved spending time outdoors trap shooting, hiking, fly fishing, making his own flies, doing yardwork, and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Brandon Legleiter and wife Nicole of Hays and Ben Gordon of Topeka, three sisters, Carol Gordon and Phyllis Robertson, both of Hays and Anita Gordon-Gilmore of Olathe, four granddaughters, Tristan, Teagan, Aspen, and Brecklyn Legleiter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Bonnie.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A vigil service will be at 7:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.  Private family inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to Hays Senior Center.  Condolences and memories of Lin may be left for his family at www.haysmemorial.com
