Linus Wendelin Werth

Linus Wendelin Werth, 90, Victoria, died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire.

He was born January 7, 1931 in Schoenchen, the son of Wendelin W. and Brigitta (Dinges) Werth.  On May 22, 1951 he was united in marriage to Berneice Kronewitter in Schoenchen, and they celebrated 52 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on August 11, 2003.  He was a wheat farmer, stockman, and owner and operator of Werth Produce and Five Star Amoco.  His memberships included St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Knights of Columbus Council #1325.  Linus was hard working, enjoyed drilling and cutting wheat, had a mathematical mind, and enjoyed fishing and traveling.  He was an avid pinochle player, had a strong faith life, and loved his family.

Survivors include five sons: Tim Werth and wife Marilyn of Hays, Glen Werth and wife Nancy of Fort Collins, CO, Stan Werth and wife Rose of Elk City, OK, Kent Werth and wife Shawnda of Hays, and Greg Werth and wife Shannon of Hays, four daughters: Sharon Werth of Cape May, NJ, Cathy Leiker and husband Dick of Richmond, TX, Debra Dachsteiner and husband Mark of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL, and Lesa Werth-Lowry of Hays, a daughter-in-law: Diane Werth of Prescott, AZ, a brother: Paul Werth and wife Donna of Great Bend, three sisters: Laura Klaus of Hays, Clarice Stoecklein of Ness City, and Dorothy Moeder and husband John of Hays, 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Berneice, a son: Dale Werth, three brothers: Ralph, Donald, and LeRoy Werth, three sisters: LaVera Schuckman, Joyce Klaus, and Mary Catherine Barnes, and a granddaughter: Elizabeth Rose Werth.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church with Fr. Damian Richards and Fr. Alvin Werth officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Monday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Tuesday, all at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church.  A vigil service will be at 6:30 pm followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary, both on Monday at the church.  Memorials are suggested to TMP-Marian High School in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  Condolences and memories of Linus may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
