Marilynn Esther Seibel

Marilynn Esther Seibel of Hays, Kansas, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Hays Medical Center after a recent stroke.

Marilynn was born December 3, 1933, in Hays to Bernard and Ida (Toepfer) Weigel. She graduated Ellis High School in the class of 1951 and attended Fort Hays State University. On August 7, 1954, she was united in marriage to Darrell G. Seibel in Ellis, Kansas, and resided in Hays all her married life. Darrell and Marilynn recently celebrated 66 years of love and marriage.

Marilynn dedicated her life to a loving home and raising her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an incredible artist and seamstress who thoroughly enjoyed her family, cooking, traveling, gardening, and caring for her pets. Marilynn was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and lived her life dedicated to the Word of God. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. Her kind heart touched all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband Darrell, five sons: Greg (Donna) Seibel, Jeff (Stacey) Seibel, Brad (Judy) Seibel, Brent (Kitty) Seibel, Michael (Angela) Seibel, two daughters: Marcie (Rodger) Steffen and Linda Seibel, 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Bernard Weigel and Victor Weigel, and three sisters: Irene Younie, Eleanor Beilman, and Edith Bittel.

Due to current COVID restrictions, private services will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marilynn’s memory may be made payable to: St. Joseph Catholic Church, Divine Mercy Radio, or Hospice of HaysMed, in care of the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
