Mark Douglas Rathbun

Mark Douglas Rathbun, 62, Hays, died Friday, January 29, 2021 at HaysMed.

He was born July 10, 1958 in Garden City the son of Clarence and Florentine “Tina” (Dinges) Rathbun.  In 1976, he graduated from Salina South High School, and in 1978, graduated from Salina Area Technical School.  He worked in the automotive industry and for 20 years was an automotive technology instructor at Salina Area Technical School and NCK Technical College in Hays.  On July 8, 2006 he was united in marriage to Paula J. Moore on Rock Ridge Ranch in Plainville, and they celebrated 14 years of marriage.  He was a member of the Plainville Car Club, enjoyed his antique cars, going to car shows, and golfing.  He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and K-State Wildcats fan, and enjoyed living on Rock Ridge Ranch.

Survivors include his wife Paula of Hays, two daughters: Tasha Rathbun Cash and husband Tom of Oklahoma City, OK and Brenda Moore Tucker of Plainville, a sister: Brenda Brazil and husband Jeff of Fortuna, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, with burial following in the Plainville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until 10:00 on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to RPM Speedway or to the Ellis County Fair Board.  Condolences and memories of Mark may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
