Mary Ann Doerfler, 92, Hays, died Monday, November 28, 2022 at HaysMed surrounded by her family.

She was born December 31, 1929 in rural Victoria, Kansas the daughter of Joseph and Salomia “Sally” (Rohleder) Dinkel.  In 1948 she graduated from Victoria High School and on August 12, 1954 she was united in marriage to Donald L. “Donnie” Doerfler in Hays.  He preceded her in death on February 16, 2003.  Together they were co-owners and operators of Doerfler’s Harley Davidson for many years.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella Circle #254, and the Hays VFW Auxiliary.   Mary Ann enjoyed yard work and gardening, and taking great care of the many roses that she planted.  She also enjoyed camping, motorcycling, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include three daughters:  Jackie Ariaz and husband Art of Wichita, Juanita Patterson and husband Eric of Wasilla, Alaska, and Jill Doerfler-Iniguez of Russell, two sisters:  Joanne Steinert and husband Sid of Munjor, and Darlene Pfannenstiel of Shawnee, one grandson, six step grandchildren, twenty step great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donnie, a daughter Janet Mayo, a brother Kenneth Dinkel, and three sisters:  Patricia Brungardt, Delores Tremblay, and Lily Meier.    

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church followed by graveside prayers at St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Friday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Saturday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A combined Daughters of Isabella and VFW Auxiliary rosary will be at 5:30 pm with a parish vigil service at 6:30, both on Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the IHM Church building fund, the Humane Society of the High Plains, or for masses.  Condolences and memories of Mary Ann may be left for the family at www.haysmemorial.com
