Mary Ann Keil, 90, Hays, died Monday, August 17, 2020 at HaysMed.

She was born June 24, 1930 in Park, Kansas, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Dreher) Krannawitter.  She graduated from Hoxie High School in 1948.  On April 15, 1950 she was united in marriage to Dell Keil in Hoxie, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 27, 2015.  She worked in the sewing department at ALCO for 19 years and was very active in the community as a volunteer at the Ellis County Historical Society, Community Assistance Center, and with the Read to Me program at Washington Elementary School.  Her memberships included Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella Circle #254, To Jesus Through Mary Prayer Group, and Extension Homemakers Units.  She was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs and the KU Jayhawks.  Her family was very important to her and she loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting, theater, and music events.

She is survived by her five children, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her sister, Ruth Hoff of Baldwin City.  Children and their families include:  Larry Keil and wife Sandy of Hays, and their sons Garrett and Jordan and wife Shauna; Janet Karlin and husband Charlie of Overland Park, and their sons Scott and Christopher; Kay Murphy and husband Kevin of Edmond, OK, and their children Carrie Martin and husband John, Kyle Murphy and wife Ashley and children Kate, Harris, and Caroline, and Allison Vaughan and husband Brian and daughters Macy and Ava; Jon and Patricia Keil of Charlotte, NC, and their sons Colin and Dane; and Steve and Dawn Keil of Hays, and their daughters Hannah Dreiling and husband Dane and Alyssa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dell, three brothers; Al, Eddie, and Willie, and six sisters; Rose, Elizabeth, Caroline, Eleanor, Polly, and Alice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. Nick Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Thursday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Friday, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.  A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:00 pm followed by a vigil service at 6:30 pm, all on Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas (DSNWK), Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, or to TMP-Marian High School.  Condolences and memories of Mary Ann may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
