Melinda Lang, 96, Hays, died Tuesday, May 5, 2020 surrounded by her family at Via Christi Village.
She was born October 5, 1923 on the family farm near Ellis, Kansas, one of six children to Nick and Lidwina (Kuhn) Geist. She helped her husband Clarence with all the farm chores, including milking the cows, raising chickens, tending to her beautiful flowers, and canning vegetables grown in her garden. Melinda was an excellent gardener, seamstress, cook, and baker, and she enjoyed playing pinochle and shopping for clothes. She was very devout in her faith, was the one her family came to with prayer intentions, and she possessed a kind and gentle nature that she shared with everyone she met. She loved her family and friends deeply, and so enjoyed caring for and spending time with her grandchildren.
