Ray Dobson

Ray Dobson, 86, Hays, was swept up by angels on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 to go to his eternal home to be with Jesus.

He was born January 24, 1935 in Mulhall, Oklahoma, the son of Arthur L. and Mildred (Kendall) Dobson.  Ray served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  He was an over-the-road truck driver for Airco.  On April 11, 1953 he was united in marriage to Gail Goble in Plainville, and they celebrated 68 years of marriage.  His memberships included Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church and the Hays American Legion Post #173.  Ray was hard-working, patriotic, and enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing cards.  He possessed a strong faith in the Lord and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Gail of Hays, a son: Marty Dobson and wife Pam of Derby, four daughters: Julie Rupp and husband Ken of Hays, Stacey Brenner and husband David of Great Bend, Tracey Snodgrass and husband Scott of Newton, and Amy Webb and husband David of Lindsborg, three brothers: Terry Dobson and wife Leah of North Augusta, SC, Larry Dobson and wife Joan of Plainville, and Jim Dobson-Kelley and Ivan of St. Miguel, Mexico, 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Melvin Dobson, and three sisters: Mary Ann Budig, Betty Jo Copper, and Maxine Gosvenor.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason Murray officiating.  Burial will follow in Fort Hays Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Hays VFW Post #9076 Honor Guard.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 on Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:00 am until service time on Tuesday at the church.  Memorials are suggested to Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church.  Condolences and memories of Ray may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com
