Ronald “Ron” Dreher
Ronald “Ron” Dreher, 66, Hays, died Thursday, March 18, 2021 at his home.
He was born April 18, 1954 in Hays, the son of Wendelin and Sophia (Dreiling) Dreher. He attended Hays High School. On July 8, 1977 he was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kathy” Legleiter in Hays, and they celebrated 43 years of marriage. For 38 years he was the owner and operator of Dreher Guttering. He owned rental properties and remodeled and flipped houses. Ron was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Sons of the VFW. His one-of-a-kind voice was well known and all knew when he walked in the room. He was always willing to help others, and enjoyed gambling and volunteering at the Hays VFW Post #9076.
Survivors include his wife Kathy of Hays, four daughters: Kim Middleton and husband Todd of Shawnee, Tonya Reeves and husband Kelley of Lenexa, Kristina Pasek and husband Kevin of Hays, and Tara Dreher of Manhattan, a brother: Don Dreher and wife Judy of Hays, a sister-in-law: Lois Dreher of Hays, eight grandchildren: Teagan Middleton, Laken Pasek, Brianna Reeves, Tate Middleton, Deklan Pasek, Grayson Pasek, Kaylie Reeves, and Dylan Reeves, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Bob Dreher, and a great niece: Chloe Medina.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Nick Parker officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Tuesday and from 9:00 am until service time on Wednesday, all at the church. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 5:30 pm followed by a vigil service at 6:30 pm, both on Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested and payable to: Holy Family Elementary or Hays VFW Post #9076, in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
