Yvonne Irene (Meis) Rodriguez, 77, Hays, died Saturday, December 12, 2020 at HaysMed.

She was born September 12, 1943 in Russell, the daughter of Servillian “Bill” and Irene (Weigel) Meis. In 1961, Yvonne graduated from Girls Catholic High School, while also working at the Lamer Hotel as an elevator operator, then later moved to Chicago and worked for Time Warner Inc. Yvonne married Raul “Rudy” Rodriguez, and they later divorced. After moving back to Hays, she worked for KAYS and Eagle Communications for 43 years.  Her memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Fidelis Daughters of Isabella Circle #364. She had a loving and generous spirit and an unforgettable laugh that everyone adored. Yvonne loved dancing, oldies music from the 50s and 60s, and Elvis songs.

Survivors include her son Peter Rodriguez of Hays, two brothers: Fr. Peter Meis, O.F.M. Cap. of Papua New Guinea and Mike Meis of Catharine, five sisters: Sr. Mary Rose Meis, C.S.A. of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Sr. Marise Meis, C.S.A. of Nicaragua, Gerri Henning and husband Richard of Pratt, Kathy Plank and husband Jeff of Shelby Township, MI, and Christine Hadley of Hays, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law Angela Rodriguez.

Cremation has taken place. Because of the challenges the world is facing at the present time, a memorial service and inurnment in St. Catherine Cemetery will be held in the future and announced at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Capuchin Province of Mid-America or to Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes (C.S.A.), in care of Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
