Robert Charles “Bob” Budke, 58, Hays, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his home.

He was born January 18, 1958 in Beloit, Kansas the son of Charles H. “Charlie” and Cecilia (Meyer) Budke.  He was a 1976 graduate of TMP High School and received his BS degree in Industrial Arts from Fort Hays State University. He was the owner and operator of Budke Construction.  On May 22, 1981 he married Mary Ann (Weikert) Shorman and on September 3, 1999 he married Sandra Dreiling.  He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #1325, and Marked Men for Christ.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, coaching, KU basketball, and the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.  He enjoyed volunteering and helping others, was very loyal, and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and trying to keep up with his dog, Sophie.

Survivors include his mother; Cecilia of Hays, two sons; Matthew Budke and wife Laura of Spring Hill, Kansas, and Austin Budke of Kansas City, MO, a daughter; Rachel Wolf and husband Scott of Colby, three grandchildren; Evan, Olivia, and Madisyn, four brothers; Dennis Budke and wife Diana of Hays, Carl Budke and wife Jama of Arvada, CO, Earl Budke of Olathe, Chuck Budke and wife Diane of Salina, seven sisters; Marilyn Werth and husband Tim of Hays, Mary Hallagin and husband Troy of Hays, Lucia Knopp and husband Steve of Russell, Barb Sechrist and husband Gary of Lyons, Diane Frantz and husband Terry of Phillipsburg, Charlene Juenemann and husband Ron of Phillipsburg, and Nancy Miller and husband Jeff of Spring Hill.

He was preceded in death by his father Charlie, two sisters; Cecilia Terese and Kathleen Marie, and a granddaughter, Ella Lynn.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine St.  Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, and from 1:00 pm until 1:45 on Thursday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St.  A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 pm followed by a Knights of Columbus Council #1325 rosary at 7:00, both on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested in Bob’s memory to TMP-Marian High School, in care of the funeral home.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.haysmemorial.com
