My mother, Gladys Swindler, is a colleague of Joan's. I also had the pleasure of knowing her while I attended FHSU. She was a remarkable woman and my mother thought very highly of Joan. May God comfort you and give you strength during this time. Condolences to you all.

Joan was a very hard but very good and fair accounting teacher. I remember her commenting in one class that a particular football player should have put a little more effort into cheating on a paper as their were four different hand writings on the paper. She was a fun sponsor of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. She was a lot of fun as our sponsor and I remember her as one of my favorite instructors at FHSU. She will be missed and fondly remembered.

Joan, I loved your laugh, smile, creativity, letters, creative photos. You were more than a loved sister-in-law. You are a cherished friend. You are already missed. The family camping trips and visits are cherished memories

She was a compassionate and caring person. She was my instructor and advisor at FHSU and always had time to talk to her students and lend a helping hand where needed. She touched many lives over the years. She definitely was an avid sports fan. We knew she was going to be excited on game days, especially around basketball tournament time. My condolences to the family as you grieve her passing.

I didn't know Joan long. We taught together for one semester at FHSU. But I was there long enough to know that she was loved by her colleagues and students alike.

May you be comforted by her memories, and the knowledge that she changed many lives for the better.

Blessings to the family.

Joan welcomed me to Hays and put up with my mediocre bridge playing. She was always good to me and my family. I never could believe all she could accomplish in a day. Joan definitely knew how to get involved in the community by offering her talents, help, and support. She was a wonderful woman.
